This 60-minute workshop welcomes parents and children to explore the art of Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) together, guided by a professional calligrapher.
Start by learning how to hold the brush and make simple strokes. Kids can enjoy practicing their favorite shapes or characters, while adults try writing their own names in kanji.
The teacher gently explains the meanings of popular characters such as “夢 (Dream)” or “心 (Heart)”—making it both educational and relaxing for all ages.
Once everyone feels confident, you’ll create your final artwork on a shikishi board or colorful fan.
Families can each choose their own word or create a collaborative piece to take home as a memory of Japan.
At the end, enjoy photo time with your finished work and receive a small paper certificate as a keepsake.
